Park Slots let you place an active call into a shared holding spot so it can be picked up again — by you or by a colleague — from any device. This is different from putting a call on Hold, which keeps the call tied to your own line. A parked call lives in a numbered slot that anyone on your team can retrieve.


What are Park Slots?

Park Slots are handy when you want to:

  • Hand a caller off to a colleague without doing a formal transfer
  • Step away and pick the call back up from another device
  • Hold a caller briefly while you look something up


You'll find your Park Slots at the bottom of the Calls screen, just beneath the dialpad. By default you have three slots: 701, 702, and 703.


Reading the slot indicators

Each slot shows a colored dot that tells you its current status:

  • Green — the slot is free. No call is parked there.
  • Red — the slot is occupied. A call is parked there, waiting to be picked up.

Because slots are shared, a red slot may hold a call that you parked or one a teammate parked.


How to park a call

  1. While you're on an active call, look at the Park Slots at the bottom of the Calls screen.
  2. Click any green (free) slot — for example, 701.
  3. The caller is moved into that slot and hears hold music. The slot's dot turns red to show it's now occupied.
Tip: You can only park into a free (green) slot. A slot that's already occupied (red) can't take a second call.


How to retrieve a parked call

  1. Make sure you're not currently on a call.
  2. Find the red (occupied) slot holding the call you want — for example, 701.
  3. Click the slot. The parked call connects to you, and the dot turns back to green.

Anyone on your team can retrieve a parked call this way, so a colleague can pick up a call you parked — or you can pick up theirs.


When a slot can't be clicked

Slots are always visible, but they're only clickable when there's something you can do with them. A slot appears dimmed (disabled) in two situations:

  • You're on a call and the slot is already occupied — it's taken, so you can't park there.
  • You're not on a call and the slot is free — there's nothing to park or retrieve.

Hovering over any slot shows a short tooltip describing its current state and what clicking will do.

Park and retrieve from your phone keypad

You can also park and retrieve calls by dialing directly, without using the on-screen Park Slot buttons. This works from any phone signed in to your account — including desk phones that don't display the Park Slot buttons.

There are two ways to park a call. Both place the caller into one of the same shared slots (701, 702, or 703), and both are retrieved the same way: by dialing the slot number from any phone.


Option 1: Park to a specific slot

Use this when you want to choose exactly which slot the call goes into.

To park the call:

  1. While you're on the call, start a transfer on your phone (look for a Transfer button or key).
  2. Enter the slot number you want — for example, 701.
  3. Complete the transfer without waiting for an answer. The caller is parked in that slot and hears hold music.

To retrieve the call: from any phone, dial the slot number (for example, 701). You'll be connected to the parked caller.


Option 2: Park to the next available slot

Use this when you don't mind which slot is used and want the system to choose the next free one for you.

To park the call:

  1. While you're on the call, start a transfer on your phone.
  2. Enter *90.
  3. Complete the transfer. The system parks the caller in the next free slot (701–703) and announces the slot number — make a note of it.

To retrieve the call: from any phone, dial the slot number you were given (for example, 702).

If *90 doesn't park the call on your system, check with your administrator for the park code set up for your account.

Tip: Because the slots are shared, anyone on your team can retrieve a parked call by dialing its slot number from any phone — whoever dials in first is connected to the caller.
