You can now record or upload your own voicemail greeting right in the app, and choose which one callers hear. You can keep several greetings, but only one is active at a time.
Your active greeting applies to every device on your extension, including desk phones, so you only need to set it once.
* Not all subscriptions will have this feature - please check with your account admin.
Where to find your greetings
Go to Settings > Phone & Messaging > Voicemail greetings.
You can also get there from the Voicemails tab under Calls. The Your greeting strip at the top shows which greeting is active. Click Manage to open your greeting settings.
Record a new greeting
- On the Voicemail greetings page, click Record new.
- Check the Microphone menu. If the right microphone isn't selected, choose it from the list.
- Click Start and speak your greeting. If your browser asks for microphone access, allow it.
- Click Stop and review when you're finished.
- Play back your recording. Click Re-record to try again, or Discard to cancel.
- Enter a Greeting name.
- To have callers hear this greeting right away, select Make this my active greeting.
- Click Save greeting.
Nothing is saved until you click Save greeting. Recordings stop automatically when they reach the 5 MB limit.
Upload a greeting
Uploaded greetings must be WAV or MP3 files no larger than 5 MB.
- On the Voicemail greetings page, click Upload a file.
- Drag your WAV or MP3 file onto the upload area, or click it to browse for the file.
- Play the file to check it. To use a different file, select a new one.
- Enter a Greeting name.
- To have callers hear this greeting right away, select Make this my active greeting.
- Click Upload greeting.
A progress bar shows while the greeting uploads. If an upload fails, you can retry it or remove it from the list.
Manage your greetings
- Change your active greeting. Select the greeting you want in the list, then click Save. The active greeting is labelled Active.
- Use the default greeting. The Default greeting is always at the top of the list. It plays a standard "not available" message. You can't play, rename or delete it.
- Play a greeting. Click the play button next to any greeting you've recorded or uploaded.
- Delete a greeting. Click the More actions menu next to the greeting, then click Delete. You can't delete your active greeting. Make a different greeting active first.
Use a different greeting after hours
Greetings belong to a mailbox, not a schedule, so you can't switch greetings by time of day. To play a different greeting after hours, go to Answering rules and route after-hours calls to another mailbox that has the greeting you want.
